Strategic Partnership for Digital Payments
The company has partnered with Tobu Top Tours to facilitate this project. Their collaboration focuses on creating tokens and a payment infrastructure built on the XRP Ledger. This system will allow tourists to pay for accommodations, meals, and shopping with enhanced efficiency.
Driving Tourism with Blockchain Technology
Under a memorandum of understanding, SBI Ripple Asia will issue digital tokens on the XRP Ledger. Tobu Top Tours will manage partner acquisition and marketing, including leveraging non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The goal is to integrate this system into Japan’s expanding tourism industry.
Expanding Beyond Tourism
While initially focused on tourism, SBI Ripple Asia has plans to broaden the system’s applications. Future use cases could include disaster relief efforts, economic revitalization projects, and support for pop culture initiatives. The company anticipates a launch in the first half of 2026.
