Joseph Chalom, co-CEO of Sharplink Gaming and a former BlackRock executive, has expressed surprise regarding the sustained holding patterns of investors in Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Having previously served as BlackRock’s digital assets strategy chief, Chalom observed that the long-term commitment displayed by these investors was particularly notable, especially considering the rapid influx of capital into these products.
A Veteran’s Perspective
Chalom’s career at BlackRock spanned two decades, during which he witnessed numerous market shifts within the financial industry. BlackRock, a firm with nearly four decades of history and over $10 trillion in assets under management, has navigated various economic cycles.
Despite this extensive experience, Chalom indicated that the specific behavior of BTC and ETH ETF holders—their strong inclination to hold rather than frequently trade—was an unexpected development. It was not the significant investment volumes or widespread media attention that surprised him, but rather the investors’ enduring approach.
